World map counts carbon emissions – and more – as they happen

This fascinating “live” map from Breathing Earth allows you to roll over different countries of the world to see their carbon dioxide emissions and birth/death rates.

Just in the couple of minutes spent typing this post, China has emitted 24,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, 92 people have been born in India (and only two in Chad), and the world population is 300 people closer to that formidable 7 billion figure, predicted to be reached  later this year. And I just found out the world emits 1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide every 18 minutes and 52 seconds. That’s scary. Have a look.
