Supporting research for impact in Ugandan universities

CIAT has signed an MOU with the Government of Uganda represented by the Ministry of Education and Sports for a capacity building project ‘Support to Higher Education, Science and Technology (HEST)’.

Under this Africa Development Bank (AfDB) funded project, CIAT will seek to enhancing delivery of research products by supporting students in universities in Uganda to carry out research on tropical agriculture and also facilitate linkages to the network of CIAT R&D partners so that the research outputs reach potential beneficiaries. Eight scholarships (3 PhD and 5 MSc) have been awarded to students in the fields of breeding and biotechnology, food science, pathology economics and soil science.
