This piece in Scientific American takes a closer look at last week’s news (and here) about the role of computer models in predicting the effects of climate change on agriculture, following three new reports from the CGIAR’s Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) Research Program.

In this article, CIAT’s Andy Jarvis explains the “Two Degrees Up” principle, and the fact that climate change is already a “tangible reality” for many farmers in the tropics.

For an even closer look at what a two-degree rise in average temperature could look like for farmers in southwestern Colombia, this short photofilm is worth watching.
