Following last week’s tantalising post about some very exciting water harvesting pilot projects in Nicaragua, today we can bring you a just-finished photofilm, documenting the work – and its potential for expansion across Central America, and beyond.
The work, coordinated by FLAR, and financed by the Common Fund for Commodities, shows that farmers’ fortunes really can be transformed very quickly, through the construction of reservoirs to capture rainwater for use in irrigation during the dry season.
When it comes to boosting food production and rural incomes, just adding water has made all the difference in a country plagued by severe, seasonal drought.
