Government initiative continues to galvanise Rwandan agriculture

25 February, 2011 by (comments)

The Rwandan government is ramping up activities in agricultural research to improve food security in the country, SciDev reports.

This research follows on from the initial success of the national Crop Intensification Program (CIP) started in 2007, which has doubled production levels primarily through increased fertilizer use.

The new phase of the program will focus on identifying and distributing high-yielding crop varieties and developing post-harvest technologies to reduce losses from waste.
