Watch this space for actual methods and web-based interfaces for identifying similar regions across the globe. CIAT is working with the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) and the University of Reading to develop quantitative tools to map out similar regions, today and into the future. The world is highly heterogeneous, but there is a wealth of location specific knowledge that is highly transferable from one place to another. This is a critical aspect of climate change adaptation, and something we hope to make major progress on over the coming years.

I thought it was Uganda! But a good way to illustrate how farmers from different countries and regions have so much in common, and can also learn from each other.

      A very good guess Vanessa!

My guess is the foto was taken in Rwanda. I have seen lots of lake-shore-views like this one over there. And look at the soil conservation measures implemented in farmers fields in the foreground. These are compulsory in Rwanda whilst probably not in neighbouring countries of Eastern Africa.

Congratulations Dietrich – excellent deduction skills! Many thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. There will be more photo challenges in the future, so stay tuned.
