Latin America and the Caribbean could become “the world’s future rice bowl”, an international conference has heard.
In his presentation to around 400 delegates at the XI International Rice conference for Latin America and the Caribbean, in Cali, Colombia this week, Bob Zeigler, director-general of CIAT’s sister center, the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), outlined what the region needs to do to become a world leader in rice production.
